ANDALE - L.J. McDonough, Noah Kelley and Ty Clark combined for a five-hit shutout as the Hutchinson Monarchs completed a two-game series week of the Andale Warhawks with a 5-0 victory on Sunday night.

The Monarchs improve to 10-4 for the season and 3-0 against the Warhawks this season. Hutchinson returns home to Hobart-Detter Field on Tuesday to take on the Haysville Aviators.

The Monarchs rolled a pair of double plays and committed only one error in the first shutout of 2019.

McDonough worked the first five innings with just two hits allowed. He struck out seven and walked four. No Andale baserunner advanced past second base against McDonough.

Kelley gave up just two hits and a walk in two shutout innings. Clark had four strikeouts and one hit allowed in the eighth and ninth innings.

For the second-straight game, Garrett Stephens got the Monarchs' offense started in the top of the first inning. His RBI single in the first plated Brayden Whitchurch with the first run of the game.

The Monarchs took a 3-0 lead in the second with back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Whitchurch and Kevin Cronin.

Hutch's last four runs of the game were unearned. Leading 4-0 into the eighth, a single and two errors plated a run, then with two out, Ryan Stoecklein laced a two-run single to right to make it 7-0 Hutchinson.

Conor Craig led Hutchinson's 10-hit attack with a 3-for-4 performance. Whitchurch and Stephens had two hits each. Colton Cowser stole his 14th base of the season, which already moves him into fifth place on the Monarchs' single-season chart.
