Hailing from Northwestern State, located in Natchitoches, LA, Mason has been lighting up radar guns and opening some eyes fromt he left side.  Pitching primarily 91-94 mph with his fastball, the 6'3" Pitcher is rumored to have touched 96 this summer and has managed to minimize his walks in the process.  while his fastball might be a bit straight, he does seem to have a bit of deception, too, which combined with his velocity, seems to make it more difficult to get good wood on the pitch.  His off-speed stuff needs work, but the arm is a strong one.  If he continues to go right at hitters the way he has thus far, he might find himself on somebody's draft board comes next June.  At the moment, Melotakis has 14 strikeouts and has walked just one batter in 12 innings of work to go along with a 2.84 ERA..   posted by- John Birtwell
